Profile: Stella Jonah

Mrs. Stella Jonah is the Head of Prudential Supervision at the National Insurance Commission and has worked at the Commission (NIC) for several years in different capacities in Finance and Administration, Internal Audit, the Office of the Commissioner and Supervision.

She is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Ghana (CIIG) and an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute, United Kingdom, with a Chartered Insurance Practitioner status.

She is also a Lawyer, a member of the Ghana Bar Association and a member of the International Bar Association, with the Insurance Committee and the African Regional Forum.

She is an Associate at the Toronto Centre for Global Leadership in Financial Supervision, Canada, and an alumna of the Leadership and Diversity Programme for Regulators at the Saïd Business School – Oxford University (UK). She served on the Governing Council of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Ghana (CIIG) from 2016 to 2020 and has served on its committees from 2016 to date.

She has years of experience in insurance regulation and supervision, has been instrumental in industry-related causes over the years and continues to play roles as a member of key industry and statutory committees.
