Profile: Robert deGraft-Hanson

Robert deGraft-Hanson is a seasoned Public Financial Management (PFM) Specialist and Management Consultant with extensive expertise in improving governance, transparency, and accountability in the use of public resources. With over 25 years of post-qualification experience in auditing, accounting, development finance, and public sector reforms, he has worked across Ghana, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Kenya, supporting governments and development partners to strengthen fiduciary oversight and financial management systems.

Robert spent over 18 years with the World Bank as a Senior Financial Management Specialist, where he provided technical leadership on financial management aspects of donor-funded projects. He played a pivotal role in ensuring fiduciary compliance and strengthening public expenditure management, budgeting, internal controls, and financial reporting for large development portfolios across key sectors such as education, health, local government, agriculture, and water and sanitation.

Earlier in his career, Robert worked with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and Ernst & Young (EY), providing audit, assurance, and consultancy services to both public and private sector clients. He also gained significant experience in the banking industry through his roles at CAL Bank, where he managed responsibilities in treasury operations, credit risk analysis, and corporate finance.

Robert is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and holds a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) from the University of Cape Coast, a Postgraduate Diploma in Corporate Finance and Management, and an MBA from the University of Ghana.
